I’m so glad I found a position at Stratus Interactive. Before applying, I had been contributing to my university's paper on a weekly basis due to my sheer love of writing. Once the semester had ended, I knew it was time to try and test these skills in a business setting.

My ideal internship was something that utilized the content I wrote and enabled me to contribute to a workplace environment meaningfully. I wanted to be a part of projects that assisted other businesses and overall had great importance. Stratus Interactive granted me just that.

So far, it’s been a tremendously satisfying experience. In addition to writing daily blog posts for some of our most valued clients, I’ve been taught how to familiarize myself with leading marketing software services such as Hubspot. Some aspects of Hubspot were recognizable right off the bat, as I’d accustomed myself with publishing services such as Wordpress previously.

Even so, there was still a lot to learn and I spent a great deal of time creating landing pages, updating content, and learning how marketing software works. During this time, I also worked alongside a few of my fellow interns drafting site maps and collaborating on website designs.

Another aspect I have to comment on is just how blown away I was with the general feel and atmosphere of how Stratus Interactive operates. The office itself, which was previously a hairstyling salon, has an entirely modern feel to it that’s very exciting, stress free and not like your standard, drab traditional office.

It was the exact surrounding I always wanted to work in: full of life, style and creativity. Both through Google+, Basecamp, Dropbox and the way the office is set up, we’re all easily connected and able to share ideas, documents, and other helpful support. We all work together in the same room, which really underlines the necessity and benefit of teaming up with co-workers.

Everyone has been extremely friendly and supportive. Just the other day, it was requested that I contact a few local advertisers to compare rates and proposals, a few of them I actually brought into the office to speak to in-person. This was somewhat of an intimidating assignment, given I’d never really had that kind of experience, but my co-workers, as always, were very supportive and helpful.

The time I’ve spent here has been great, and I would wholly recommend it to anyone searching for an internship. I’ve learned quite a few things I can’t wait to add to my resume, and the experience of working alongside other people towards meaningful goals has been something I’ve been intending to do for awhile.

I’ve had multiple jobs in the past, but working at Stratus Interactive really demonstrated to me what it’s like to work in an office setting, something I was previously unfamiliar with but knew I needed to experience. I feel like I could step into an office comfortably, knowing how to perform in that setting, in any future job I acquire. Once again, my experience at Stratus has been extremely gratifying and I wholeheartedly endorse interning for them.
