The problem is, not all social platforms were created equally, and even less cater towards your business’ desired audience. That’s why you might want to consider heading over to Slideshare and starting your own account. But why Slideshare, and why now?

Why Slideshare?

Slideshare, touted as the world’s largest content sharing platform for professionals, is steadily growing and companies willing to adopt are seeing how it can supplement their online presence—helping to build both their audience and lead conversions. The platform reports that in Q4 of 2013, the site averaged 60 million unique visitors a month and well over 200 million page views. Yeah. We’ll let that sink in for a minute.

Basically, what Slideshare does is let users upload and share presentations, videos, infographics, documents, PDFs, and webinars to colleagues, customers, family, friends—basically, anyone whose interested in what you have to say, giving your content a wider range of readers. The slides are organized by topic, and there are plenty of brands and personalities already engaging the platform (Like Hubspot, Mashable, even the White House).

(How about a Slideshare describing how Slideshare works?)

As anyone who works primarily online could attest, readers today want information compiled into short, succinct, easily-digestible pieces and Slideshare gives business owners an opportunity to do just that in a visual medium. But is Slideshare just a fad, or is it something your business needs to implement today?

Why Get On Board Now?

There are many reasons why you should be using Slideshare for your business in addition to the ever-growing number of unique visitors and page views. Slideshare presentations are also a seriously effective way to collect leads and convert them into customers! The platform provides quick and easy access to view counts (Total, Slideshare, and Embeds) and features other popular stats and analytics including likes, downloads, comments and more. It even goes as deep as where the views came from, who it was downloaded by, locations, traffic, and much more.

The copy included in the slides is also pulled from the slide and posted separately under the presentation, allowing the text to be crawled and indexed by search engines like Google. The easier it is to find, the easier it is to share—and the more content you’re able to share, the more likely your audience is to accept you as a thought leader in your industry.

That’s important because thought leaders are able to bring in a higher number of qualified leads due to the added trust they portray to their viewer base. The faster you’re able to get in there and start publishing content, the easier it will be to convert leads as the platform is steadily growing. That makes now the perfect time to wet your feet and take a stab at creating something you know your followers would love to watch, read, share, or engage with.

The Bottom Line:

Like I said earlier, not every social platform is make or break for your business, but Slideshare is certainly one you should keep your eye on. Similar to Google+, Slideshare might not have the quantity but it certainly has the quality to engage viewers and bolster your lead generation strategy.
