December 31st: the end of the road for 2013. On the whole, 2013 was a big year for many reasons, from new innovations to new ways of experiencing the world we live in. As a marketing agency, we're constantly striving to one-up ourselves in every aspect of our work, so one of our favorite activities is researching what some of the top companies are doing in advertising today, and we've built a pretty robust list of our favorites. Here's Stratus Interactive's favorite videos of 2013! Let's see if any of your tops made our list (in no particular order).
Petco Copilots
Petco produced a heartwarming take on the way our animals touch our lives on a daily basis. The add not only pulls an emotional response from pet owners, the messaging fits perfectly with the Petco branding.
Lazy Phones
Motorola's new Moto X smart phone promises the ability to manage all of your apps and features using your voice--meaning no more "lazy" smart phones that you actually have to touch... the nerve. Regardless, the spot is certainly a humorous one.
Ship Your Pants
From the first line of this commercial, you're hooked. Did he just say that? Is this on TV? Kmart's word-play advertisements in 2013 set the bar for other companies to attempt a hurdle, including Jingle Balls and Big Gas savings, but none grabbed attention like Ship My Pants.
Tullamore Dew
Tullamore Dew's 2013 spot on life, death, and friendship is one of those commercials you don't realize how good it is until after. There aren't many commercials that can fill you with as many emotions as this one does, which makes it a true diamond in the rough of alcohol commercials.
Honda Hands
Honda's short about the history of the Honda engineers and some of the magical creations they've come up with. The commercial inspires dreaming and innovation, while utilizing a simple yet visually appealing premise throughout.
The Split
How does a company demonstrate the precision and stability of Volvo Dynamic Steering to the general public? Make Jean-Claude Van Damme do a split between two moving trucks. That's how.
The Super Split
Never one to get shown up by lesser action stars, Chuck Norris saw Van Damme's split, and raises him... 40,000 feet.
Did we miss any of your favorites? There were tons of awesome advertisements this year that didn't make the final cut, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve a mention. Let us know what we missed in the comments below.
