Improving a website for search engine optimization is a hot topic right now. With the world wide web constantly growing and gaining traction within the entrepreneurial industry, as well as Google's increasing dominance over online social connectivity, SEO is quickly becoming the crux of effective inbound marketing and design.
Because of this, Stratus Interactive is often tasked with redesigning websites with search engine optimization in mind which adds to both a websites credibility and online ranking. It's worth the continuous hitting-over-the-head when we state that 91.5% of Google user don't tread past the first page of results.
That's huge—and I'm sure you can relate. When was the last time you clicked to the next page of search results when you were using Google? The results get less relvant and less qualified as the pages go on, so when you're searching for fast information, there aren't many incentives pushing you down the list of pages. It's also worth mentioning that often, searchers will alter the phrases and keywords used to search rather than continuing through the results hoping for something right and relevant. The importance of showing up for relevent keyword searches is vital to any business or website.
The process becomes a constant game of checks and balances in order to find yourself ranking for keywords in the top ten spot, and a lot of that has to do with the way your website, as well as its content, is designed. Take a recent client of ours, for example.
Everett Kelley is a contingency-only recruitment firm that focuses on hiring talent for businesses, and organizations. Because of the abundance of different recruiting options available for companies, Everett Kelley needed a way to seperate themselves from the pack in both design and increased web trafffic. Their solution was a redesign that encorporated current best practices (Responsive Design, SEO, User Interface, etc.) while portraying the company in a way that reflects their friendly, conversational attitude.
Everett Kelley's Old Website Design

Previously, Everett Kelley's website was very basic--which certainly doesn't mean it was bad. The specific challenge was, Everett Kelley needed a way to both update their look to add credibility to their skillset, while also improving the architecture and design to facilitate increased leads and applications. The site was mostly text based, and it didn't give any indication to how awesome the team at Everett Kelley is. It also didn't portray their engaging and professional approach to hiring, which is a growing stigma in the recruiting industry. So how could we transform Everett Kelley's so-so site into a star contender?
Everett Kelley's New Website Design

With the new design, we really wanted to step away from the text-heavy bare bones approach of the previous design. We utilized a lot of their more recent marketing imagery (rubber ducks and lavender) to help bring the pages to life. Another big change for the organization was the imagery. We wanted to pull images that reflected a zest for life and positive attitude, realizing how important it was for clients and candidates alike.
We also encorporated conversational content that sets Everett Kelley and the team as a group that's easy to talk to--yet, is experienced and professional. In doing so, we were able to create copy that has personality, which sets their team apart from other recruitment companies. One such differentiator was the job board, which gives clients and candidates an opportunity to see some of Everett Kelley's available jobs. This can drastically improve a recruitment company's reach and credibility, which it has done for Everett Kelley.
