Let There B Lit: Client Spotlight

We’ve all been there. Driving along at night, only to hit that pothole and hear the sweet sound of air escaping your new $200 tire. Now you have to get out, and try to find the tools to finish the job. The problem is, it’s a tedious job, and trying to jack the car, loosen the bolts, and change the tire is that much harder when you’re constantly juggling a flashlight. But, the innovators of the world have an idea for everything, and with endless ideas come endless possibilities.

One such innovator is Ken Brown, creator of the B Lit—a multi-faceted, hands free illumination solution. The goal? Helping you utilize your flashlight for as many possibilities as possible. 

Ken approached Stratus Interactive in order to increase his product’s visibility using various marketing assets, including websites, videos, integrated marketing materials, social media and more. So what exactly is B Lit? 

What Is B Lit?

B Lit is a flashlight mount that can be used in a variety of ways to help you see in tough situations, without the need to actually hold the flashlight yourself. You can hang it from hooks, wires, and tree-branches or you can utilize its incredibly strong Neodymium magnets, making it perfect for those flat tire situations. It also has a clip, which can be leveraged using your hat, belt, or anything else you could imagine.

What Was Stratus Interactive Able To Do for B Lit?

Originally, B Lit had a single page website that was used solely for product purchases, which was packaged accordingly. The problem was, B Lit wasn’t standing out amongst the thousands of other products on the shelves. Ken decided that he wanted to redesign both the packages and the website in order to maintain a consistent, yet visually appealing brand.

Ken also needed a way to uplift the site for improved user experience. Before, the site was plain and didn’t offer ways for viewers to engage with the product, see how it works, or what its best uses are. And when it comes to new ideas, people are more susceptable when they can see them in action, and get an idea of how they could utilize it at home.

Stratus started with redesigning the B Lit packaging to grab more attention off the shelves. We didn't want it to get lost amongst all the other products and hardware accessories that were already fighting for attention. Instead, Stratus incorporated the American flag into the packaging, highlighting the fact that all of Ken's products are manufactured in the United States, as a way to seperate it from the pack.

After the packaging was designed, Stratus began work on uplifting B Lit's website. The previous site wasn't very user friendly, so that became one of the primary focuses of Stratus' efforts. The team implemented a simple, cohesive navigation that both intrigues the viewer, and promotes exploration throughout the site. The team found that the ability to showcase how the B Lit works using video significantly increased the viewer's engagement through the sales funnel. 

Due to the increased engagement with the videos, Stratus moved the B Lit into the commercial space, in combination with an improved, robust ecommerce site. With everything working at once, the goal was a synonamous vision across all channels. And since the product wasn't the easiest to gauge right out of the box, it was a great way to reach people and get them excited about the B Lit—especially with the holidays around the corner.
