This week, we’ve decided to highlight the best of this week in a variety of categories: Best Websites, Best Ads, Best Stunts and Best Infographics. Stratus Interactive’s own weekly spotlight of the best marketing efforts and marketing news that we have come across throughout the week…without further ado:
The Best Websites of the Week
As you may know, we are design and technology junkies here at Stratus. Therefore, a website like Awwwards that highlights the design, creativity and innovation on the internet is right up our alley. Every day, they highlight a collection of websites that are stunningly designed and/or strikingly innovative. Below are a few of our favorites from today.
The portfolio of a French multimedia designer in Paris is a combination of movement, beauty and unexpected functionality. The site may be in French but we don’t care. (Hint: hover over the arrow on top of “Portfolio” to see the top navigation)

This line of vegan energy bars certainly did not follow the norm when creating their website. Vertical scrolling? That’s for amateurs. How about horizontal scrolling? And who said a slider only needed to take up a portion of the homepage. Not GoMacro.

The Best Ads of the Week
Moto X Lazy Phone
The new phone Moto X has a series of commercials under the campaign “Lazy Phone” that replaces a less feature-rich phone in the commercial with a lazy person to simulate how much their new Moto X can do. The concept is brilliant and the execution is hilarious.
Okay, here’s another one.
Chipotle’s Scarecrow
Chipotle released an ad this week highlighting their alternative to fast food which includes sustainable, freshly made food and naturally raised/antibiotic free meats. The commercial features Fiona Apple singing Willy Wonka’s “Pure Imagination”. What’s really unique about this ad is that Chipotle’s brand is not littered all over it; in fact, the company’s name only appears at the end of the commercial. I know, I know, this is contrary to everything you’ve ever been told about marketing but it works in spite of this because the ad isn’t all about the brand, its more about the message of supporting sustainable food. Oh, and there’s also a video game.
The Best Stunts of the Week
Volvo takes the cake this week as it hires a hamster to drive a one of their trucks up a dangerous quarry road. Yes, I’m serious.
This video follows another Volvo stunt from last week where the Claes Nilsson, president of Volvo trucks, stands on the cab of a Volvo truck suspended 65 feet above a port in Sweden.
The Best Infographics of the Week
Yes, we love infographics too…which is why the website Daily Infographic is another one of our favorites. This week they highlighted infographics about toilets, flip-flops, sushi, dating and this one on the 25 Odd Jobs that Make Good Money:

We hope you enjoyed our collections of this week’s best marketing news! Have a great weekend everyone.
